Warm Heads Warm Hearts 2014/2015
This past weekend, Akhawaty Incorporated hosted it’s Warm Heads Warm Hearts event in San Diego CA. The event was a great success! We were able to raise enough support to distribute over 230 winter packages, far surpassing our original goal of 100 winter packages for the San Diego location.
On Friday evening, a group of volunteers gathered to assemble the winter packages. Each package provided contained a winter hat, socks, and snacks (applesauce, crackers, and fruit chews). Additionally, handmade hats and scarves were donated along with gently used jackets. These items were also packaged for distribution. The group of volunteers organized themselves such that the packaging went a lot more quickly than was originally planned! After all of the packages were put together, they were loaded into the vehicles for delivery the following morning. While leaving, a few of the packages were handed out to the homeless who were near our assembly facility.
Early Saturday morning, just as the sun was rising, volunteers met up again to head out to distribute the packages. It was truly a cold morning in San Diego. Everyone we came in contact with were very thankful for the warm winter items on such a cold morning. We also received some feedback for consideration for our next Warm Heads Warm Hearts event. It was truly a humbling experience for each of the volunteers as we distributed the last of the packages. As we headed back to the meeting place, we reflected on some of the stories of the people we had just served.
Akhawaty Incorporated is truly grateful for the wonder support that we have received from everyone for the Warm Heads Warm Hearts Campaign. We have plans for hosting the events in two other cities in the near future, so check back often for details on those events!
