For many individuals and families who are homeless or facing homelessness, a general check up at the doctor’s is often out of their reach. Without access to basic healthcare, many within this population end up in the emergency room after preventable issues have escalated into life-threatening emergencies. New services and opportunities are becoming available to the homeless population, but there is often a disconnect between those who qualify for the services and the organizations providing the services.
Akhawaty Health Fair is a proposed event produced by Akhawaty Incorporated to bring services to displaced individuals and families. At our first annual healthfair, we are hoping to provide health screening services, mental health screening, nutritional advice, hygiene and personal care items, a meal, access to food services, referrals to social services to obtain IDs, employment referrals, and other services available via the city, county, and state. We will also be providing an area for children of the families we serve to have some time to play games, receive toys, and other treats at the fair. The event will also create volunteer opportunities that will not only allow community members to be in the service of others, but will also raise awareness of the needs of the displaced community.
We need your help to make this event happen. Your donation will go a long way to helping us to provide the much needed services to our neighbors in need. Any amount helps get us closer to our goal of serving 300 displaced individuals.
Our goal is to raise $5000.00, which will be used completely to fund this event.
